Painting a Tribute
Painting a tribute
Southampton High School art students created a portrait of Martin Luther King Jr. as part of a collaborative project with the East End Arts Council.
For the mural, 16 students in Pamela Collins’ art class were each given a square and template that they were responsible for painting. When put together, the squares form an image of Martin Luther King Jr.
The completed painting will be displayed by the East End Arts Council virtually and on social media in January and February, and will be at the East End Arts Gallery for an exhibition and scholarship auction. A replica is currently on display at Southampton High School.
